Below is the call for this event from Alpha Canada.
The main Ottawa area location for the Alpha Millennium Day of Prayer was
Glen Cairn United Church, Kanata.
Minister: Revd. David Sherwin.
This was a prayer and praise service for all Alpha people. Also, we
particularly welcomed "friends of Alpha" (pre-Alphas?) who joined us
in prayer for continued accelerating growth of Alpha in Canada. We have
seen the way God is using Alpha to reach people in every corner of the globe
and we want those blessings for all our friends and loved ones.
This evening was spiritually rewarding both for Alpha and
for all those who came and pray with us.
Below are some photos of our service, which was attended by about 50 from all over the Ottawa region, including as far as Russell. Prayer leaders were Rev. Archie Hunter, Doreen Slingerland,
Rev. Brian Wilkie, Alice Keiwan, Ray Brule, Bob & Pat Horsey. Our musicians were led by Jennifer Bulman, who selected the
praise songs.
The service was introduced by Rev. Archie Hunter, Alpha Regional Advisor for eastern Ontario.
The actual time we sang and prayed was from 6:45 - 9:30 pm.
Message from Nick Finlay, Canadian organizer
As most of you already know, on April 29th groups of people in various
venues across Canada will be gathering to pray together for the spread of
the Gospel across Canada and for unity in the Body of Christ.
In the UK they have had a number of national Alpha prayer efforts such as
this and the Lord is listening! They now have 7000 churches running the
course and a recent poll showed that over three and a half million people
in Britain have now completed the Alpha Course or know someone who has. In
the UK they are about to Invite the Nation to Supper - an Alpha Supper that
is!
We all know that it is prayer which makes the difference!
The pace is gathering for registration of venues for the Alpha Canada
Millenium Day of Prayer and there are already a number of venues firmed up,
right across the country, but we need more! From phone
conversations we have had, I am sure that there are many yet to be finalized
and there are undoubtedly still some folk who, with a little
encouragement, would really like to run one of the prayer meetings.
If you haven't already received our Millenium Prayer Video* then please
let us know and we will mail it out to you. We will also send you an email
advice of all you need to know to get a prayer gathering happening in
your church or community on April 29th so that your people can join their
hearts in prayer with others. How wonderful to know that for two hours on that
day our nation will be linked in prayer from sea to shining sea!
Please keep us informed - and let us know if you need any help.
Every Blessing,
Nick Finlay
