May 1 and 2, 2001 was a time of great joy in the Lord as delegates from the Ontario Alpha community gathered with pastors and lay leaders interested in finding out about the phenomenon that is the Alpha Course. This was a training conference, aimed at showing how to run Alpha effectively. Keynote speakers were Paul Cowley, Brian McVitty, and Gene Tempelmeyer. Paul heads the Alpha prison ministry for Alpha UK, based out of Holy Trinity Brompton, the original Alpha church in London. From his extraordinary experiences on both sides of the law, Paul shared with us how to run Alpha in prisons, and how to care for ex-offenders who have come to the Lord during their time behind bars after joining an Alpha course. Brian, Paul and Gene took us step by step though the vision and mechanics of the Alpha concept, leaving us with the tools to evangelize within our communities. Great credit is due to conference chair Ray Scanlan and his team for their dedication in bringing this project towards harvest. All photos may be downloaded freely.
