There were no minutes written up of our September 5th meeting, which was well attended by 14 people. If you need to check the contents of the meeting, Tony Copple has some meeting notes and an audiotape, but had no time to write minutes.
Nick Lee -Response from Elaine Young, Alpha Canada- accommodations for Brian McVity, Brian Rae, Vernon Robertson, Ray Scanlan and Lawrence Rae. The Alpha Canada attenders st the conference will be Sally Start, Elaine Young, Heather Goudreau and Vernon Robertson. -Tapes and notes for speakers -North American Alpha is supplying conference -Seminars are taken care of -Audio-visual equipment- Powerpoint for Elaine -enquiries about additional equipment -Elaine young and Kathleen Greene to correspond by e-mail. - In response to query by Tony Liuzzo on prices of Alpha materials in resource catalogue, prices did go up despite efforts by Cook to hold the line. It is indicated in the catalogue that "prices are subject to change without notice" -In response to query by Tony Liuzzo on behalf of Joan Prebble of Blessings Christian Marketplace, Alpha Canada does not permit insertion of advertizing flyers in participants' package. Any supplier would be welcome to help with Cook's table at the Conference and distribute business cards to invite purchases after the Conference. -Still awaiting floorplan for Conference regarding handicapped access and seating. -Eric shall have an answer next week regarding audio-taping. -A.J. Catering to handle baked goods. -Speakers and guests to use taxis and airporters from the airport. -Need to arrange for volunteer meeting at Dominion-Chalmers two weeks prior to Conference (Nick to arrange). -Liability insurance to cover Alpha Conference. -All action items are on schedule. Jenny Moore -Discussed contents of delegates packs. -Harry Baker to investigate 25% discount from Grand & Toy to purchase additional items for the packs. -Colour coded name tags to identify volunteers -Purchase double pocket portfolios. -Everyone to receive dinner invitation -Registration is at 38 (50% volunteers)- Alpha Canada not concerned at this point. -Anticipating between 100 to 350 delegates -Question- seminar leaders don't pay for conference or meal Eric Angel -A.J. Licence $25.- Harry Baker to check -Banners are ordered Chris Allen -Revenue level would be approximately $15000 for 250 Attendees -Honoraria- are we paying Lawrence and Brian? -Confirm what Alpha Canada is paying on our behalf -Are there any savings in Alpha Canada budget? Nick Lee to check Chris Slojewski - St. Patrick's Basilica declined on his request to display Conference banner as it would create precedence. They receive many requests from many organizations. - He planted the seeds for the Conference however. Kathleen Greene - Ministry team to meet on Thursday, October 25, 2001 at 7:00 PM for familiarization with the church surroundings. Atha Kelley -Ongoing, on-site prayer Harry Baker - A.J. confirmed - Survey equipment needs such as coffee urns etc. Could we use Dominion-Chalmers equipment? Tony Liuzzo - The Alpha talk delivered from the pulpit at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Deep River was well received. - Confirmed that three people from Deep River to attend the Conference- Hardy Philippi, Ken McDonald and Debbie Desrochers. Tony Copple (delivered by Tony Liuzzo) -Radio interviews on CHRI 99.1 Dr. Alan Churchill,September 19, 2001 at 9:00 AM; Bishop Coffin,October 17, 2001 9)) AM. -Eric and Nick approved banner design. $250 each Budget $1200. -Expect $5000 from Dominion-Chalmers fund (final confirmation hoped for Sept 26) -Alternative proposals for advertizing budget-: (a) three 30-second ads per day for 1 month Cost $1486. Note: later research is moving us towards 60 second ads. NOTE: ADOPTED FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION Ad in Christian News Ottawa, $250 Radio ads on CHRI incl key statements from the interviews - Sally Start has indicated that the V.I.P. luncheon at the Conference will be funded by Alpha Canada for 15-16 people. It's location and catering are currently being decided by Tony Copple.
