Rev. Joshua Arreak's report on the SOMA Mission to Ottawa

Rev. Arreak was the leader of the mission team

Mission to the Diocese of Ottawa 9th to the 21st of October, 2002

We had a team of four people and they are; myself, Brenda Panipakoocho, Rhoda Katsak and Linda Milton-Kyak and they were all from Pond Inlet.

This is my perception of the mission we had to the Southern Churches, mainly in the Ottawa area.

The mandate of the mission I was given was to give a report and share the event that had happened in Pond Inlet. It was about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit which took place in a little church on the 28th of February 1999. The outpouring was audible to the people that were there at the time and it filled the Church with a thundering noise and literally shook the building. We believe it came from God because we were crying out to God for help and anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is only by a miracle that such an event can happen and many people have been so humbled by all this.

A number of factors took place leading up to the day of the event. Christians were hungry for the blessing and anointing of God and had been praying for months for the anointing of the Holy Spirit. There were many preparations and cleansing that happened to the spiritual Christians prior to the event which I am not going to detail right now.

I learned many things during the mission, which I do not have time to write about. Many people are asking and wanting the same anointing and blessing of God which happened in Pond Inlet and has put Pond Inlet in a map.

Having said that, I believe that God had chosen Pond Inlet to show the world that even the remote and most hostile places in Canada had been reached by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also believe that the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, before He ascended into Heaven in which He said, "you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and all of Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth," (Acts 1:8, Matt. 28), is almost complete. I know that the north is one of the remotest places in the world and they have now heard and believe in Jesus Christ. Even in the remotest places in Greenland, like Qanaaq, have heard about Jesus Christ. The next prophecy is the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. I also know that we still have to reach the people outside our churches in order to accomplish it.

We went to many places in Ottawa area and prayed for people, talked and shared in groups. I just want to believe that we had accomplished what we had set out to do and leave it with God. The results will have to come from the people we ministered to and from those who were there in order to get the right perspective of the mission; whether this was worthwhile or not. It has greatly blessed and humbled the mission team from Pond Inlet.

I also want to say that whoever is involved in a mission should take every opportunity to minister and be ready for anything that they are called for, as for the opportunities we have are harvest times.

We don't like to commend ourselves for the mission; if we have done anything right or worthwhile, it is all for the glory of God and all praises belong to God.

We were kind of tired at the end of the mission but it was all worth it and I hope and pray for each and everyone of the team members, that they may all be blessed. It was a great experience for us all, both the team members and those we ministered to.

I would also like to send our greetings to the wonderful people who had to put up with us, especially those we stayed with.

May the blessing of God Almighty be with you all.

In Christ,

Joshua+
