Late Night Counsell — Baptism in Lockdown

In his 18 years in the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre, Coordinating Chaplain Rev Carl Wake had never had a request like it before: 12 inmates asking for total immersion baptism.

These were men from an Alpha course led by Alpha Prison Coaches Dave and Carol Atkins that has been running in the prison since 2002. Over that time the level of interest in Christian matters by inmates has gradually increased. But this unprecedented request by so many to become full members of the Christian communion was remarkable. The ceremony was witnessed by prison guards, staff, and other inmates.

Listen to an interview with Carl Wake (in three sections) by Rev. John Counsell on the Wednesday edition of Late Night Counsell, Ask the Pastor, when Rev Carl told the amazing story of these baptisms.
