Our objectives remain the starting up of new courses, and optimizing attendance on all courses by marketing, personal inviting and prayer. Our local Hot Line: 866-92-ALPHA or 592-5310 continues in operation, and can direct inquirers to courses.

Our resource library contains several copies of the 2004 initiative DVD: Expect another invitation, Canada! This is ideal for introducing Alpha and the Initiative.

In March we arranged Alpha screen ads on 58 screens for a month. There will be a further screening of ads on 28 screens in Britannia Coliseum and Gloucester Silver City, from August 6 to August 27, 2004. Any inquiries received on the hot line will be funneled through to a course geographically close to the inquirer. For this reason it is vital that your course information is up to date, both on the Alpha Ottawa site and at Alpha Canada. We are not organizing centrally any other Ottawa activity such as a mall campaign or involvement in Worshipfest.

We encourage individual courses and groups of courses to take the initiative and stage publicity events and other promotions. Fundraising, if necessary, would be your responsibility. We particularly urge you to re-mount your banners from 2003 on August 15, and to advertise and run introductory dinners in mid September.

Alpha Eastern Ontario and MAP (Mentorship.Aftercare.Presence) are pleased to invite you to a joint Prison Ministry/Ex-offender Aftercare Training and Awareness Meeting on Wednesday June 11, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.. It will be held at Greenbelt Baptist Church at 839 Shefford Road (located on ground floor of a commercial office style building) in Gloucester north of Montreal Road and Route 174.

We are blessed to have Ray Scanlan, Alpha Canada's National Coach for Alpha in Prisons, speak at this meeting.

By this gathering of people interested in Prison Ministry and Ex-offender Aftercare, including MAP and Alpha, we are hoping to do the following:

  1. Inform Prison Alpha volunteers and others more about what MAP volunteers do.
  2. Inform MAP volunteers and others more about Alpha - specifically the benefits of guiding ex-offenders who were introduced to Alpha on the inside to a welcoming Alpha church.
  3. Inform people who would like to be involved in ministering either to inmates or ex-offenders so they can explore opportunities for ministry in these areas.

We hope that you will be able to attend this exciting opportunity to learn more about Prison Ministry and Ex-offender Aftercare - truly mission fields in our own back yard.

Please RSVP to Dave Atkins by June 9th so we can make enough coffee and refreshments. Feel free to invite a friend or two.
